“China is the third country in the world with independent and complete industrial chain from upstream core components to midstream body to downstream system integration after Japan and South Korea. The United States and Germany, which are also major robot manufacturing countries, are lacking Some core components (such as core reducers) and the industry chain are incomplete.” Song Jia, director of the Center for Integrated Innovation and Integration of Machinery Industry Economic Management Research, said in an exclusive interview with the “Securities Daily” reporter.
Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics in May showed that China’s industrial robot output reached 19257 units/set in April, a year-on-year increase of 26.6%. This is a footnote for the rapid recovery of Chinese manufacturing. In the month of April, the added value of China’s industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 3.9% year-on-year, which turned positive for the first time during the year, while the figures for January-February and March were -13.5% and -1.1%, respectively. The development of the robot industry has subsequently become a hot topic of concern.
According to the spirit of the government work report during the two sessions in 2020, especially “two new and one heavy”, it is of great significance to the robot industry and has far-reaching impact. Song Jia pointed out, “In terms of industrial robots, China is the world’s largest application market, accounting for about one-third of the global market share. Special robots, the market has maintained rapid development, technology innovation, especially in response to various public safety events High-risk, high-altitude operations, etc., have an outstanding demand for special robots. With the acceleration of the aging population, household robots continue to have strong demand in medical, education, and housekeeping services, and the application and market space continue to expand.”
“In particular, new infrastructure construction (referred to as: new infrastructure), mainly includes seven major areas, and there are also eleven major areas in the back, generally divided into two areas is conducive to the rapid development of the robot industry.” Song Jia said.
First, 5G, artificial intelligence, big data center, industrial Internet, etc., mainly on the technical side, the robot industry will be further improved, which will lay a solid foundation for the industry to form new products, new functions, new models, and new applications.
Second, many industrial chains, including UHV, intercity high-speed railway and urban rail transit, and new energy vehicle charging piles, provide new application scenarios and space for the robot industry, and also put forward new functional requirements.
In terms of market space, some research institutions believe that China’s robot industry will enter a period of medium-speed growth, with a compound growth rate of 16% from 2020 to 2023. By comparing with the development of the Japanese robot industry, re-calculating the density of industrial robots and comparing with developed countries, China’s robot industry will enter a period of medium-speed growth starting from this year, especially during the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan” period, and is expected to be compounded in 2020-2023 The growth rate is 16%, higher than 5% of the leading countries in Europe, America and Japan.
Robots are roughly divided into three categories, namely industrial robots, home service robots and special special robots. From the perspective of market attention, the home robot index has the highest popularity, followed by industrial robots, and special robots.
At present, the main market space of the robot industry is in two major areas: the first is the manufacture of automobiles (including new energy vehicles), the demand accounts for more than 1/3, and the second is the manufacture of 3C household appliances, the demand accounts for nearly 1/4. Demand from these two downstream industries accounts for more than 60% of the overall robot demand.
The robot is hailed by the industry as “the pearl at the top of the manufacturing crown”. It is an important symbol for measuring a country’s innovation capability and industrial competitiveness, and has become an important entry point for a new round of technology and industrial revolution in the world. The five countries of China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Germany are both major robot manufacturing countries and major consumer countries. These five countries consume 73% of the global robots.
“The trend of the industry shows the characteristics of head gathering and sinking market segmentation competition. Domestic companies are gradually joining the international competition, leading companies have more obvious advantages, the competition pattern is becoming clearer, and market share is gradually being occupied by head companies. The sub-dedicated market has also become a hotspot for competition, which is in line with the industry’s development law, first from scratch, quickly enter the main market, and when the main market space is limited, continue to sink or subdivide.” Song Jia analyzed.
The Machinery Industry Economic Management Research Institute was established in 1982. It is a first-class institution under the approval of the Central Compilation Office and held by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. The National Development and Reform Commission drafted “Several Opinions on the Comprehensive Revitalization of Northeast China and Other Old Industrial Bases”, and successively published the “Report on the Development of China’s Equipment Manufacturing Industry” (Key Blue Book) and “Top 500 Listed Manufacturing Companies.
The two-in-one collaborative innovation center is the second-level center of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. Promote the optimal allocation of industrial innovation resources, promote China’s manufacturing intelligence and enterprise innovation capabilities, and promote the high-quality development of local economic structural adjustment).
